Our Adult Ballet Program at DCS is designed to meet dancers where they areβ€”whether you’re brand new, returning after a break, or ready for a challenge. Below is a simple breakdown to help you choose the best fit.

🌱 New to Ballet or Want a Gentle Start?

Ballet Basics

Wednesdays | 6:00–7:00 pm (7-week session)

  • Perfect for absolute beginners or those with very little experience

  • Focuses on:

    • Basic ballet positions and terminology

    • Proper alignment and technique

    • Mostly barre work with a small amount of center

  • Low impact and beginner-friendly

  • Many dancers take this class for multiple sessionsβ€”stay as long as you like!

Best for:
βœ” No prior ballet experience
βœ” Returning after a very long break
βœ” Those not currently doing other physical activity

🩰 Ready for a Full Ballet Class?

Adult Beginning Ballet / Intermediate Level

Thursdays | 7:00–8:30 pm

  • A full ballet class including:

    • Barre, center floor, across-the-floor work

    • Simple turns, jumps, and traveling steps

  • Straightforward combinations and clear instruction

Best for:
βœ” 1–2 years of ballet experience
βœ” Familiar with basic technique and terminology

Adult Beginning Ballet / Advanced Level

Mondays | 5:30–7:00 pm

  • Faster pace and more detailed combinations

  • Focus on strong foundational technique with added complexity

  • Full center floor including turns, jumps, and grand allegro

  • Offers options for dancers with more experience

Best for:
βœ” 2–4 years of ballet training
βœ” Solid understanding of ballet foundations

✨ Returning or Moving Toward Intermediate?

Moderate Ballet

Wednesdays | 7:00–8:30 pm

  • Slower-paced intermediate class with in-depth instruction

  • Emphasis on:

    • Improving technique

    • Pirouettes and different types of turns

    • Petite and grand allegro

  • Each class includes clear explanations of concepts to help you progress

Best for:
βœ” Dancers returning after time away
βœ” 4–5+ years of experience
βœ” Those transitioning into intermediate-level ballet

Open Level Ballet Classes

Adult Beginner Pointe

Wednesdays | 8:40–9:40 pm

  • Introductory pointe work

  • Strengthening exercises at the barre

  • Minimal center work

  • Focus on safe, basic pointe technique

Adult Pointe

Tuesdays | 8:40–9:40 pm

  • Intermediate-level pointe class

  • Barre and center floor work

  • Focus on intermediate to advanced pointe concepts
